Angels pitcher Shohei Ohtani (28) played as the “No. 3 hitter DH. This was the final game of the three-game series against Red Sox outfielder Masanao Yoshida (29). Yoshida was the “No. 3 DH” and entered the game at No. 3 for the first time in the majors. Otani hit his 12th solo shot in four games to left-center field in his second at-bat of the third inning.
